I was so excited to share this outfit with you and how to look expensive on a budget with River Island. Although I love all of the items styled in this outfit – of course, because it is monochrome – there were two pieces that caught my eye whilst browsing River Island for a head to toe look to share with you.
Sandals to give Chanel a run for their money…
FIRSTLY these amazing quilted velcro sandals from their sandals selection here immediately caught my eye, they are a great alternative for the exclusive Chanel quilted sandals, which are so hard to get your hands on! I saw the beautiful Monikh styling hers on Instagram the other day and as a fan of the ugly shoe trend I just stared and adored them for a couple of minutes – call me a weirdo, but I appreciate a good shoe! This pair are comfortable and edgy, they also make a great alternative to the Teva sandals if you can’t get your hands on them. I wear mine all of the time so these will be a beloved edition to my summer shoedrobe.
A dress to champion Saint Laurent
SECONDLY this 90s grunge glam inspired dress with its ruching, polka dots and puffed sleeves screamed luxe Saint Laurent vibes to me. For those of you who didn’t know, YSL is the ultimate designer brand for me and my favourite. I literally would wear everything they design – minus a few crazy colours! River Island has a great range of dresses, which you can find here, so I found it hard to choose just one but with YSL close to my heart it had to be this one.
You always need a jacket to finish a look
LAST BUT NOT LEAST I picked out this belted jacket, which is giving me some 70s and inspector vibes. Made from faux leather it is really structured but supple and also comes available in a lush khaki colour. I always think that no look is complete without a jacket either, especially in the unpredictable British weather! You can shop River Island jackets here.

I haven’t had a browse of River Island for a while tbh so when I was kindly asked if I would like to be gifted an outfit I really enjoyed browsing through the website. Are you a regular shopper at River Island? I will definitely be browsing more often now, it used to be one of my favorite places to shop a decade ago – now that makes me sound old! 🙂
