Styling Fishnet Socks For Spring

One trend you won’t be able to escape this season from the pages of fashion magazines to the blogosphere and across the high street are fishnet ankle socks. They instantly add a cool edge to any outfit and seem to work with every style of shoe imaginable. So, when I was challenged by Ted Baker to style up a pair of shoes from their new Spring / Summer 2017 collection, which you can view here, I knew that I wanted to touch on this trend.

My shoe of choice from the new Ted Baker SS17 was this pair of high back court shoes in patent leather. As I am usually one to live in flats and trainers I wanted to challenge myself to make court shoes accessible for casual daywear. It is something I have been wanting to do for a while, to incorporate more heeled styles into my wardrobe. And so far so good from this little style experimentation.

Why I’ll Always Love The Sports Luxe Trend

In primary school and high school I was your stereotypical tomboy. Never seen without my trusty Adidas popper track pants and yellow tick Nike Cortez. I could have been a poster girl for Adidas or Nike, as I’m pretty sure it made up 90% of my wardrobe. As I got older I was made to feel that sportswear was for adolescents and not adults, so I must admit I unwillingly stopped wearing my Adidas and Nike clobber when I went to university. Then sports luxe came into fashion and I have embraced it ever since. So much so that you will rarely see me without a pair of trainers on my feet whilst at work in the week (that’s the magic of being able to wear what you want to the office).

Since hitting my Thirties I have decided to make a conscious effort to refine my style – as admittedly I still feel I rebel against dressing like an adult. But instead of taking a back seat in my wardrobe, sportswear will be making more of an appearance but with classic ladylike quirks thrown in. Take today’s look for example, an on trend piece – the slogan t-shirt – worn with Adidas joggers and my classic Levi’s denim jacket. Pulled together with a ladylike pair of court shoes from Ted Baker.
