Ankle Boots Transition your Outfits From Summer To Autumn
My all time and all round favourite footwear (apart from trainers, obviously) for any season, is a pair of ankle boots. Especially during the transitional months from Summer to Autumn, when half of the time you have no clue what weather you are dressing for. Whether you are opting for a skirt – as I have in today’s look – or pairing with your favourite dress, shorts, midi skirt, crop flare or skinny jeans: a pair of ankle boots will go with practically anything.
So, in today’s post I have collaborated with Ravel to share with you #MyRavelStyle and some tips on finding the perfect pair of ankle boots to transition your Summer wardrobe to Autumn.
1. To make your ankle boots versatile for both day and evening wear opt for a heel that is between 3-4 inches high. Any higher and you won’t be able to walk all day in them and any lower, they won’t look as dressy for evening wear.
2. Pick an ankle boot to match your clothing style. This could be anything from a patent black leather ‘rocker’ ankle boot to a pair of ‘country’ Cowboy boots to a dainty pair of ‘girly’ ankle boots.
3. Be practical with colours and textures: I see ankle boots as an investment so rather than going for that red pair you love. Try to build up your shoe staples first by opting for black or tan in a leather or suede material.
4. Look for accents to make your ankle boots stand out from the crowd: if you are going for fail safe colours then you can look at finding a pair of ankle boots with character. This could be anything from a buckle – like my lovely suede pair of ankle boots from Ravel have – to studs, laces or a chunky sole.
5. Look at the upcoming fashion trends for AW16 and try to incorporate one of these elements into the ankle boots you are investing in to transition your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn. Obviously, remembering from tip 3. to go for something that will see you through the years, rather than an outrageous pair of ankle boots you can only wear for one fashion season.
