BLONDE AMBITION: GOING PLATINUM

Say hello to my new hair, thanks to Partners hairdressers in Knutsford and the handyman-ship of the lovely salon manager, Ray. Using Schwarzkopf Professional’s new ‘Blonde Me’ process, Ray transformed my hair with a full head lift on my natural dark blonde and sparse highlights from roots to mid-length. Then, he carefully tried to put as little product on the ends of my hair, that already had pre-existing bleach on from my old dip dye, in order to help protect my hair. And, I have to say. After the process it has been through that my hair feels relatively undamaged, just thicker in texture due to the bleach.

One of the revolutionary things about the Blonde Me system is that with the lightening product is made from a gel like substance, which allows you to lift your hair up to five shades in as little as 15 minutes. Meaning, that you don’t have to sit with bleach on your head for 40-45 minutes, which of course is less damaging on your hair too.

After the Blonde Me lightening agent had taken me to a full bleach blonde, my hair was washed with Blonde Me special Keratin building shampoo and then a treatment was used to condition my hair. Before then shampooing again to strip any additional conditioner that had not soaked into my hair off the surface, so that the toner would take. The ‘Ice’ toner was then applied to my hair for around 20-30 minutes, to tone my hair into the white / platinum blonde that you can see in these shots that were fresh from the salon.

If you weren’t aware, when bleaching your hair you will most likely find that your roots go whiter due to the body heat that quickens the lightening process. Which means that we found my roots took the process really well, as did the already bleached ends, but that my mid-lengths did not go as bright. So, I have a more baby blonde through the mid lengths of my hair, which you may be able to notice in the pictures above as showing up as two slight different shades.

But as with all lightening processes, you want this to be as safe as you can on your hair with the least damage. So, when I get my roots done in the next 8 weeks, hopefully the rest of my hair will pick up more of the ice / platinum tones and my hair will be whiter than it is now. Although, since washing and using some purple infused products from the ‘BlondeMe’ range, my hair’s shade has cooled down and evened out a bit more since these shots were taken.

Next time I am tempted by trying a more silver tone by perhaps mixing the ‘Ice’ toner with the ‘Steel Blue’ toner, as Roy was telling me that you can mix the colours to create new ones, which is amazing. They also have pastel pinks, purples, peaches and blues to play with, which I am guessing might get a little addictive!

A big thank you to Ray and the team over at Partners in Knutsford, I can’t wait to come back next time as your service was second to none. If you are looking for a new hairdressers in Cheshire, then Partners have a salon in both Knutsford and Poynton and you can find out more about them on their website – partnerssalons.co.uk or by calling 01565 651819 (Knutsford salon) or 01625 873112 (Poynton salon) today. I cannot recommend them enough!

What do you think of my new hair? I am still getting used to seeing a bright blonde every time I pass a mirror, as it has been a while since I was this blonde. But I am loving it so far!

Wow so very blonde! I've found being blonde is pretty addictive, i keep wanting to go lighter and lighter, but my colourist told me no as I won't like the harsh roots. But platinum just looks so good! HiddenFreckles xx

Thanks Elizabeth – I know, I can feel I will get addicted already…although touch ups will be a pain for the bank account! Fortunately I am light blonde naturally though so bleach only needs about 15 minutes, so it isn't too damaging! xx

Thanks Sarah πŸ™‚ I am too tempted – but don't want to look as though I am copying other people…so perhaps silver grey next time to ease me into it or a peach colour (although I am afraid that will look orange!) xx
