Fake Tanning Tips

Streak Free Fake Tan Tips on Beauty Blog

With summer fast approaching, it won’t be long before you can permanently rip off your tights to expose your bare, naked legs to the world! As my legs have somewhat been kept under wraps over the past few months, they are rather on the pale and pasty side.

I don’t know about you, but I always feel a bit more radiant and confident when I have a tan, especially when getting my legs out in skirts, shorts or dresses. Not only do they make the appearance of my thighs seem slimmer and more toned (due to the illusion of applying an extra layer of tan on the inside of my thighs) they also hide the spider and thread veins that I am super conscious about.

If you also suffer from spider and thread veins, keep your eyes out for a future post on a product that I have been using to reduce mine.

Anyway, back to tanning, recently I have been using LW Tan from TOWIE’s Lauren Goodger, which I have actually been thoroughly impressed with for it’s lack of streaking and the pleasant smell and easy spray and apply action. Below you can see a before and after comparison picture using Lauren’s Way Dark Tan and also a few of my own fake tanning tips for achieving a natural summer glow…

My Fake Tanning Tips

1. Always remember to exfoliate and shave the night before, removing any unwanted hair, dead skin or old lines from fading fake tan. This is my favourite current exfoliator here. I also find that body brushing helps with getting rid of any dead cells and boosting circulation.
2. Moisturise dry areas such as knees and elbows and don’t forget to also apply to ankle bones, toes and fingers to avoid horrible and obvious orange lines. You can also use Vaseline around your hair line and eyebrows if you wish.
3. Always wear gloves to apply your fake tan and use a fake tanning mitt for an even and smooth application. You can usually pick these up for a couple of quid from your local drugstore or supermarket.
4. Apply in a circular motion, making sure that the fake tan is worked in over all areas. I find that the LW Tan is easy to use, as you can see where you are applicating the product, due to the colour.
5. Bend knees and elbows when applying fake tan to these areas and glide over these areas alongside hands and feet, to achieve the most natural look.
6. Moisturise! This final step is key for maintaining your fake tan after you have washed the product off. I like to hydrate my skin instantly with Garnier’s intensive 7 day moisturiser and then I will use a daily gradual tan lotion to keep my skin moisturised to stop the fake tan from fading quicker and the gradual tan also keeps my colour for longer.
