The Botanist Food Blog Review
Places to eat in ManchesterThe Botanist Deansgate Manchester ReviewWhere to have cocktails in Manchester

One of my many favourite places to eat in Cheshire is the Botanist in Alderley Edge, as I just love their quirky and cute interior and how they present their food in little wheel barrows alongside all sorts of amazing-ness. So, when I was asked to take part in sharing one of my favourite places in Manchester for the Millennium Guide to Manchester here, I knew I had to try The Botanist’s new restaurant on Manchester, Deansgate, which has exactly the same ambience and charm but on an even bigger scale as the location is probably twice as big as the one in Cheshire.

Providing a great service and tasty / imaginative food, for much less than you would expect – when comparing to Australasia (another of my favourite places to dine in Manchester) or Rosso – The Botanist is also a great place to catch up with friends and to go for a drink, with their cocktail list being just as creative as their food menu…think plant inspired drinks with fruity names, like the ‘Basil & Grape Cooler or ‘Blackberry and Rosemary Fizz’, which I chose as my poison for the evening.

Onto the food, here is what James and I dined on for starters, mains and deserts:

To start James tucked into some pork crackling whilst I chose to chow down on some BBQ inspired chicken wings, that came presented in this cute wicker basket.

For mains, I couldn’t resist a hanging kebab, as these are literally my favourite, especially when the garlic sauce is poured down the middle, of course complimented by an obligatory side of halloumi cheese, whilst James went for the steak sandwich.

Leaving the best bit until last, which has to be something sweet for dessert, I again, went for a hanging kebab, this time stacked with strawberrys and marshmallows complimented by ice-cream and wait for it – Sailor Jerry chocolate sauce! For his dessert James went for a chocolate mouse on the specials menu, although I have to say mine was the best, even if I am being a bit bias towards Hanging Kebabs for this whole review!

So, whether you fancy food, cocktails or a catch up with friends in beautiful surroundings, I recommend that you try out the Botanist in Manchester, or at any other of their locations, which you can find details of on their website here.

Thank you to the team at The Botanist for having us, your service and food was impeccable, as always!
